Too begin with, I must say am proud to be apart of the life in Africa community, I love their activities and was inspired by the activities of Life in Africa for example, the craft making, of paper beads, the mats, hand bags and other activities such as internet for change classes and accessibility to loans.
Above all, a friend who is a long time member of Life in Africa, who had been a beneficiary of the activities offered at the Centre encouraged me to be a part of LIA.
I have been a member for almost 9 months, for the time I have been around the community I have discovered a lot and I have also been exposed to a number of things I believe if I hadn’t been a part of the community I wouldn’t have learnt or discovered! For this am so grateful to the overall administrators of Life in Africa.
I entered LIA as a volunteer and am still volunteering at the center, through my volunteering and interest to learn new things I have been able to acquire new skills, that I didn’t have to pay for, like making of paper beads, making the bracelets, mat making and currently am taking lessons for internet for change. These new skills, put under proper use they will help me earn personal income and also I will be in position to help other members of the community.
Interaction and Socialization at the center, LIA center gathers people of different backgrounds, all tribes, the educated and the un educated all having equal opportunities. I have learnt to relate with all these people, been able to make new friends in the community and not forgetting I learn a lot from the different people at the center.
At first it was a little had for me to fit in, in the community, I guess it is a common scenario in any new environment, but with great encouragement from some of the community members I was able to make it and am happy at the center.
Life in Africa is a very active and busy place when it comes to craft production and it attracts a lot of people, I believe if membership was not limited it would be over crowded.
The most exciting thing that has happened to me so far as a member of life in Africa is being able to take internet for change lessons and having a wonderful teacher ,for the lessons who is always there for us when called upon and his great interest is for us to learn all the skills and later apply them in our very own LIA community.
It is so exciting to me because I always desired to learn the internet skills but lacked the opportunity, its so expensive to learn it privately I could not afford it and even the given time and attention of the trainers is limited, but Life in Africa made it possible for me at a minimal cost being a member.
I love LIA, the people, the activities, the community as a whole and it’s Vision.
Great thanks to LIA director, my Internet for change teacher David and all the other LIA administrators.
GOD BLESS.
